Statutory spelling word lists

Please click on the link to open your child’s year group statutory spelling word list for Year 3-6. These are set by the government and are a set of words which have specific spelling patterns. At Laleham, we have split the ‘Year 3/4 list’ into 2 separate year groups. We have done the same with the ‘Year 5/6 list’. More information published by the government can be found here.

Years 1 - 6

My Maths is a school subscription we currently pay for. Each child has their own log on information. Your child’s teacher can set specific tasks which can include a teacher tutorial interactive lesson, as well as practice activities. These activities are then marked and the results are accessed online by the teacher. Your child can also access any of the maths curriculum areas without things being set by the teacher.

Years 1 - 6

To ensure your child continues to develop their spellings, a list of weekly spellings will be set on EdShed each week. New spellings will be posted on Monday and remain on the system until Sunday.  It is imperative that we encourage the children to regularly play the practice games so that they continue to learn the spellings set by the government.

Years 3 – 6

By the end of Year 4, the national standard set by the government is that all children should know their times tables up to 12 x 12. At the end of the year, a ‘Multiplication Test Check’ is carried out (apart from 2020). Times Tables Rockstars is a school subscription service we currently pay for. Each child has their own log on information.

In either paper form or online, Times Tables Rock Stars is a carefully sequenced programme of daily times tables practice.

Each week concentrates on a different times table, with a recommended consolidation week for rehearsing the tables that have recently been practised every third week or so.

The children take on the avatar of a rock star. The more they play, or the more successful they are, the more their avatar can experience!
