Our children's views on geography

Reception: "We love making maps in reception, especially when there is treasure at the end."

Year 1:  "We learnt about the Sahara and Antarctica, and what is there."

Year 2:  "We have learnt where places are in the world. We used a magnifying glass to look at different parts of the world on a map."

Year 3:  "We looked at earthquakes in New Zealand. Earthquakes only happen for about a minute or less!"

Year 4:  "It was just interesting to know why someone’s house in another country is just worth £1, because it was so close to a cliff and it could fall down (water erosion)."

Year 5:  "I enjoy learning about Heimaey. Did you know that trees can’t grow there because of where their location is?"

Year 6:  "Learning about natural disasters like tornadoes and floods was interesting."

Volunteer at the Wildlife Working Party - Oct 24: "Yesterday's session was fantastic; the work you're doing at the school is fantastic, not only for the children's connection with nature but also for the positive impact it is having on the environment itself."
