Climate Action Plan

The sustainability and climate change strategy for education states: “By 2025, all education settings will have nominated a sustainability lead and put in place a climate action plan”. This includes early years settings, schools, multi-academy trusts, colleges, and universities.

At Laleham CofE Primary School, we believe that small actions can lead to big changes, and we're excited to take steps toward a greener, more sustainable future. Our Climate Action Plan is all about creating a positive impact on the environment while inspiring our students, staff, and families to work together for a cleaner, healthier world.

From reducing waste to saving energy, we are committed to making eco-friendly choices that will benefit not only our school but the community around us. By embracing these efforts, we hope to encourage everyone at Laleham Primary School to become climate champions and help build a brighter, more sustainable tomorrow.

Our plan aims to:

increase the confidence and expertise of the leadership team, staff, pupils, and families in understanding climate change and how positive change can be achieved;
create a culture that prioritises sustainability;
share effective practice with other education settings and develop a peer-to-peer learning network;
use data to identify and prioritise action;
improve energy and water efficiency;
calculate carbon emissions and identify ways to reduce them;
reduce operating costs;
increase resilience and start adapting to the impacts of climate change;
enhance biodiversity;
help pupils to develop skills and knowledge which help them to contribute to sustainability and climate change in their lives and future jobs.
